Why is the text for close reading read-aloud option not available?
Hi,
Thank you for your question! We are currently working on fixing the close reading read-aloud option, & hope to have it completed very soon. If you have any other questions, please contact blog@benchmarkeducation.com
I teach kindergarten. Are students expected to stay sitting throughout the Read Aloud, Shared Reading, Mentor Reading, Writing, and Phonics? I find that it is too much teacher talk and not enough student interaction. We use brain breaks and different movement breaks but are struggling to fit all the different components into our literacy time.
Hi,
Thank you for your question!
The Read-Aloud does not have to happen directly before the Shared reading as it is postioned in the TRS. Teachers may choose to do the Read-Aloud at a different time. Small Group Instruction, as it is positioned, can take place in between Writing and Phonics, but teachers may also choose to break into Small Groups in between other mini-lessons, such as between Shared Reading and Writing.
Is it possible to save the graphic organizers from the weekly presentation as a Google doc, so I can upload a copy for each student onto Google classroom that they can edit online? This would save on a ton of copies!
Hi, Monica-
Thank you for your questions regarding Benchmark Advance! I’ll forward them to our Editorial department & get back to you as soon as possible. In the meantime, please feel free to use our California-based Co-Pilot site, CACopilot.benchmarkeducation.com. Have a great day!
The weekly presentations can be assigned by teachers and edited by students using the tools that are part of every presentation and e-book. One of these tools is the type tool, which allows students to type directly onto the graphic organizer or worksheet being assigned. As the student types, his/her work is being saved to the assignment and is able to be reviewed by the teacher. This should eliminate the need for printing these worksheets in the future. If you would prefer to make these Google Classroom assignments, at this time you would need to re-create the graphic organizer worksheet as a Google doc. For the best experience, I would recommend using the Benchmark Universe assignments to achieve this goal.
The Read aloud handbook link for 4th grade, unit 5 is incorrect. The link sends me to unit 6 stories. Can you please fix this?
Second Grade Teachers Manual (printed version) is missing pages 124-133.
